Thread: What a rookie...

Opinions are like you-know-whats, and here's mine:

Get the exhaust before you get the intake. The sound improvement is more pleasurable, and I think the performance gain might be a bit better than just an intake.

Shocks are a good upgrade, but I would get some FM or Racing Beat sway bars first. That and a good alignment will do wonders for your car.

Bum as many rides as you can with modified cars to see what suits you best...

    Good luck!

Hey...is there anyone else on the board who has JUST the intake installed w/out the exhaust upgrades?? I'd love to check out your car just to see/hear what it's like before I do this, even though I've got the bug pretty bad right now!

Doesn't the NB already get fresh air from forward of the motor with the stock setup?? This just seems like additional plumbing to me?? But I could be wrong. Titus 5 MPH gain on the dyno??? What??

I'd go for a new exhaust first also, best bang for the buck, got Enthuza on both my NB's. Had a Anza on my old NA.

My 2003 has a snorkel off of the airbox that pulls air in from up under the wheel well where there are slots in the fender liner for air to come in. Not too bad a setup for factory.

If you're after loud & low, give me a ring sometime and I'll take you for a ride, since you're in Plano and all.

Pretty impressive, huh! I guess there is an inertial force of the cowl induction that causes a cyclone funnel overcoming the drag coefficient allowing the car to exceed it's inherent gearing capabilities.

Does that have anything to do with the Flux Capacitor????

Similar concept, but much different in the execution.

For nice sound but not obnoxious, I'd go with the Racing Beat duals... had them on my '04 and it really sounded nice, but I could still drive down my alley at 2:00am without waking up the neighbors.

Man, I feel like a complete moron for even having to ask this, but how does one get the second opening on the rear to accomodate the second pipe??

Racing Beat duals definitely sound GREAT and look great, too. The single is a little quiet for my taste, but my neighbors seem to not be bothered by my car...

The instructions with the RB kit make it pretty easy. They give you a paper template to mark the hole. You then use a knife (or in my case, a Dremmel tool) to rough out the opening that is about 1/8" too small. Then you use sandpaper to gradually open out the hole to the mark you made.

I did my own install for it and it tool me about 2.5 hours for the whole thing and it looked great.

That is too cool! I think that's the way I'll go...I had picked out the Dual, but had no idea if I could do it myself...I feel like it's do-able! Thanks!
