    Default Allrighty...

I just joined, and I just bought my Miata. Came from a 98 beat up GT Mustang...wish I would have never bought it, and before that had a lot of SHOs.

But, what's all required to compete in AutoX, a helmet and member fees? That's it?

    Basically that's it! :afro:

Some good information is available at the Linky!

Just let us know how we can help, a few of the kids around here have done an Autocross or 2.

Welcome to the board. You don't even really need a helmet b/c most of the clubs have loaners. I've never heard of any horrible head lice outbreaks or anything... should be pretty safe.

Come on out, you'll have a great time.

You can pick up a head sock for $2 at Home Depot if you plan to use a loaner helmet. Look in the paint area.

Welcome aboard! Hope to see you at an event soon. Don't be afraid to ask for some help. I'm sure someone will show you the ropes. (Look for the shanty-town Miata village at any given event)

Do people bring things like easy-ups and folding chairs, or does everyone stand around all day getting sun burnt (or holding umbrellas on weekends like this one)?

In the heat of summer, someone usually brings along a sun-shade. Most everyone will bring a chair of some sort. You won't use it much (if at all) at an S2K event, but there's plenty of time to sit on your arse at an SCCA or ER event.

Welcome to the board, bmcreider! Did you buy used, or did you find a leftover '04 somewhere?

A folding chair and an umbrella are always good ideas. Umbrella works as both a rain and sun shade, and a chair is just a good thing to have, unless you like sitting on the ground.

I bought it used, with the miles in the sig....8,800. I drove it 1,200 miles in the first 4 days just blasting around roads near Lake Worth, Aledo, and Flower Mound before work and after work. Of course I deliver pizza for a living too, lol, so I also drive it at work.

I love this car. Except for one thing, that the dealer said they'd fix but I'd have to give up the car for a few hours to do...the drivers side door trim rattles like crazy over any kind of bumps.

Is there any way to fix that? I saw it was a service bulletin, IIRC.

Yep... it's a issue with how the trim at the bottom of the window attaches to the door. If you want them to fix it free, then they'll have to do it. Otherwise, you could order the trim and replace it yourself. I had this problem on my '04. It really only takes them a few minutes to do it.
