Repairing a rim

Hey - has anyone worked with any of the local wheel repair shops?

I think my back driver's side rim is still not right... and the *#$# stealership supposedly sent them off to be fixed, kept my car for over a week, and when I got it back it still shook bad between 65-75mph (and NO, it is not the famed Miata shake - this comes from the rear left corner only)

I'm thinking of trying one of the various wheel places but want to know what to expect for downtime for my baby.

My company is owned by the same guy and in the same building as Wheels America. They do great work. Give them a call at 214-330-9866.

I used Wheels America to fix a couple of bent rims on my old Talon several years ago. They did good work and down time was minimal because they had replacement wheels in stock.

They can repair them overnight unless its a chrome wheel. It's rare that they have to exchange it for a core, but if they do they carry over 22,000 wheels in stock.

Do they take the tire off & put it back on too?

Yup, they can do that.

Discount tires did my rim. Down time depends on when they pike up at the shop. Should be only a day or two. My rim looked as good as new when I got it back.

I don't think discout actually repairs them. I'm pretty sure they send them to us.

Well, all Discount Tire did was tell me they couldn't even balance my tires and check them for bentness.

They said that the rims I have would never be straight and I'd be constantly be repairing them.

Then they proceded to try to sell me 1300 worth of 17" rims and tires. Granted they looked very good, but still...

I'm disappointed in them and will probably go to NTB to get the wheels balanced.

All I want is to make sure that my diagnosis is right that there's only one bent rim.

This way I can take the one rim down and get it straightened.
