Some people think 10AE's are cursed to get crashed. I think its stupid.

Hmmmmm..... I know of a few.

That's ridiculus though. There were 7500 made of course you will hear about the wrecked ones and there will be more of them. I know of at least 15-20 or more of the 1500 93' LE's that have been totalled. Curse of 99' AE's.....

BTW, I didn't read the thread either, maybe tomorrow.

I had something to do with making the 10AE more rare.

lol, I love the part in the thread when the guy says,"Also shows you how well these cars are built," Guy is lucky that's all the damage he sustained at that speed. My 92 was totaled at a stop sign in a circle. Girl couldn't have been doing more than 25mph. My 90 was on the border line of being totaled, depending on how my friend at the body shop played with the numbers if I was to go through insurance and that was from a mere 7mph collision in which I must plead the 5th as to what happend! Don't get me wrong, I love my Miatas (yes I fixed both and kept'em) but they are not very crash worthy.

Well I guess I'm lucky too as I hit a highway divider at 50mph and was t-boned by a full size pickup. I walked away without a scratch.

It's the fact that these cars are "rare" makes it more memorable when one gets wrecked.

I think it's funny when people are superstisous!
    No more Miata

Now I'm scared to drive mine. Think I'll keep it in a big plastic bubble inside my garage.

I guess that depends on whether you define crash worthy as "cheap to repair" or "likely to let you walk away from a severe impact".

Jon's car was t-boned by an Altima at about 45mph. The car was completely totalled, but he walked away from the accident with nothing more than a couple of bumps and bruises. I'd call that crash worthy, but I'm using definition #2.

Amen. You're a lot better off having the vehicle absorb the crash forces vs. your body absorb them. Metal can be replaced.

Ya, I like to think of the Miata as built like an F1 car. You may walk away without any serious injuries but the car is ! Plus some people just get lucky. Or in my case, unlucky. When my neighbor hit me at the stop sign head on at around 20mph, it totaled my 92 plus torn cartilidge under my knee cap. Her little Cavalier hardly had a scratch it seemed.

*speaking of good/bad luck with car wrecks, you wanna talk about some bad luck. A friend of my sister's a couple years ago was in a Suburban with 4 other girls and they got in a wreck and rolled it until a tree stopped it. My sister's friend was the only one wearing a seat belt and was the only one injured beyond a small bruise. wtf?! The only one wearing a seat belt yet the only one rushed to the hospital!
