Thread: Help a Brother Out

    Default Help a Brother Out

A friend (the same one who was going to buy the diesel Merc until it failed its inspection at Auto Hans (thanks TC!)) is now looking at purchasing a car in Florida, and needs to research some options. Questions:

    1. What's the cheapest way to transport a car from Florida to Texas and what do you think it will cost?

    2. I seem to remember some program that links up people needing cars to be transported with people who need to get between two states. So I agree to drive your car from Florida to Texas for free and you allow me to use it we both come out ahead. Am I making this up?

    Thanks in advance

Do you really want the cheapest way to get the car out here, or the cheapest way to get the car out here safely? I really would be weary of letting some bum who can't afford a bus ticket drive my car across country. I wouldn't want to give someone like on of these guys the keys, thats for sure.

Before gas prices skyrocketed I moved the 'lac from Pa to Texas on an open carrier for about $800.00, would Imagine Florida to Texas would cost about the same if not more now.......

Think the second option may be an urban legend, there are drive away services but free I highly doubt..

    What's the car in Florida??

Thanks, POS. That's the kind of information I was looking for. By the way, TC, here's a snippet from my friend's e-mail:

I returned the Mercedes 300 SD on Monday and got my check back. I paid $135.00 to Auto Hans to get a Prepurchase Inspection, and it was the best money I could have spent. Thanks for recommending Auto Hans. Alex, a German guy I dealt with there, was great. And thorough. He found at least $3000.00 in repairs that had to be done immediately to make the car street-worthy, and another couple of thousand dollars in repairs to make it work like it should. After Alex's inspection, declining to buy the car was then a no-brainer for me.

    Auto Hans impressed thoroughly.

Good to hear. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to buy a used Mercedes/BMW/Porsche... or, heaven forbid... needs work done on one.
Maybe 4 wheels aren't so bad after all... wickett.org

I believe the guy driving the Rolls in this movie was driving the car for someone needing to transport it from one place to another. Seems he lost his gf and the race.
