So what was up with the first heat?? Seemed to be a lot of dead time, and then the kids carts... wacky stuff!
Seemed strange since that's not the norm for an SCCA event.
I'll take the heat for that one....Originally Posted by POS Racing
The announcer client wasn't working right all day - it's an extra screen that the announcer can read from that gives information about current position, how far competitors are from the next position, etc. I was in the trailer during that heat, and I was fooling around trying to give Ozcop some good announcer fodder, and that was the first thing that came to my mind....

The dead time was due to unpredicted problems in the trailer. Something we haven't had happen in a long time. I think we've identified the root cause, and it shouldn't happen again. 2nd heat went smooth as silk, like we normally run the whole show, and 3rd heat went well too.
The kid karts are just a tough thing to manage, especially on the bus lot. It may not be evident, but we've spent a ton of time planning and trying to smooth out the flow when the karts run. Yesterday's kart troubles were caused by good old fashioned mis-communication.

While there were a few obvious hiccups in the first heat, for a first timer I thought the crew did a fantastic job of running the event.
As a former organizer of R/C racing events (up to national level) I know first hand what is involved (and had my share of computer issues and mis-communications).
I saw the guy about to blow his fuse too. Chalk it up to stress, heat and kids..been there done that too..
Bottom line, I had a great time as a first timer and will be back. Great sign-up, great course layout, great announcing, and lots of nice helpfull folks.
And that is what it's all about when you run an event.
To all of those that work this and future events... THANK YOU! You are the ones that make it happen for the rest of us. It is much appreciated![]()

Not anymore. Saw the F1 car on your cardomain site. Nice. Tamiya?Really? Sweet. You have any cars?
I had a Kyosho F1 that I TQ'ed with at the '96 Nats (Sportsman Stock). Car was set up great, but I was nervous and stuffed a board on the start of the A Main.
I had flashbacks while walking the track on Sunday. Very similar to what we did in RC racing. We used boards and dots (plowdiscs) to layout the course, used leafblowers, then sprayed it with VHT. I just thought of the course as a big RC track while I was walking and trying to memorize it.
Now I'm off to clean my nose....:ncool:
Yeah, I want to get rid of it. Congrats on the win on Sunday. You should run in street tire class next time, you would get to run with most of us.Originally Posted by SixAce

I was giving out helmets and I remember that girl who drives the Corrado riding with Jimmy once, so I guess it was her. It was her first autocross and I guess she knew who to hook up with.Originally Posted by Solo RX-7

Nice touch, the bit of music on your last run. Was that Rage Against the Machine?
Nope - Cake. Race car Ya Ya's. I've cheesed up a bunch of videos with music. Helps cover the low-rent production values.... Check the videos section for more.Originally Posted by SixAce
