    Default One set of shift boots done...

    Nice pic of the old & new outer shift boots.



    The stuff in the turret looked more like mud than oil

    I can't believe how the old one looked, it appeared to have dissolved.

    The shifter was hot as hell too, hope this helps.

    Yep, it was toast too.

    The vinyl boot was even toast from the heat, it got the heave ho also.

    I did both the inner and outer on my wife's car yesterday morning. The old one looked just like that.

    did the new boot fix the heat issue? Both of mine are trash, and the car reeks of gear oil.

    Yes...

    The outer boot fixes the heat issue... the inner boot fixes the gear oil smell. You are smelling the turret oil since the inner boot (the little one on top of the turret) is split too.

    damn, this makes sence, i've been checking my differential, tires, engine oil... and haven't found where the smell is coming from... i'll have to change mine too... thanks RJ...
