Thread: TopGear releases first picks of NC with RHT

Too bad you still can not get one with the Bilstein/limited slip/5 speed/16" wheels!

I love the new RHT, but it is not enough for me to trade by NB! I understand Mazda has to please the general public to sell cars. However, they don't take care of the "core audience", they will become a company w/o a soul! I agree with Altiain that w/o much more investment they can turn out a line of cars that can please most, it not all, of us. Toooooooo bad

Has anyone heard if there is more/less/same headroom with the RHT?

Good question. I've sat in the NC and it definitely has more headroom than my NB. In fact, the headroom, top, and side airbags are the ONLY things about the NC that I wish my NB had. Although this RHT might change my mind...

I thought the packages had changed for 2007, as well as the warranty (2007 will be 3/36,000)...

Is the RHT going to be an option on any level MX5 or will it just be available on the Grand Touring variation.

They're going DOWN on the warranty? Seems backwards when all the rest are still working their way UP.

This is something of a myth. The bumper-to-bumper is down to 3/36. I believe the powertrain warranty is actually UP to 5/60.

They lowered the overall warranty from 4 to 3 years, but extended the drivetrain coverage to 5y/60k. It was done to match the warranties offered by the other Japanese car makers. Apparently dealerships were complaining that buyers were using the shorter drivetrain warranty as an excuse to not buy a Mazda.

The only bit of the warranty we ever used was on the bumper to bumper part with the loan car. Didn't something also change on the loan car policy?

What about the package changes for 2007, what changes along with the RHT are in the works??

Turns out to be nothing worth while. They changed the names around to make it apear that they were addressing issues such as autocrossers wanting the 5-speed. They made the touring the sport and the sport the touring, so the sport now has the 5-speed. The problem is, you can't get the suspension package (including LSD) on the sport now, just like you couldn't get it on the 06 touring.

You can't get the SPORT suspension on the SPORT model? That's the dumbest thing I've heard all day.

I like teh one touch down idea for both windows...

Mine has one touch down for the driver, but not the passenger. Press one, hold teh 2nd switch to lower the top.. Very dumb. Thought about adding a one-touch switch to the passenger too but never got around to it.

Yeah the Stooks have an interesting feature (since it's a power top anyway).. when you lower the top, it automatically lowers both windows for you.

It would be nice if the PRHT button also triggered both windows to go down, but I bet they forgot that one.

I want one button on my remote that drops the top and the windows. As I walk over to the car, slipping the sun-glasses on with one hand, I hit the button with the other hand and Bammo! We're talking Miami Vice cool. :afro:

Actually the car would be Miami Vice cool. I'm afraid you (and the rest of us) would still need some work, Titus.
