Thread: All is not well

    Default All is not well

Well guys, first problem for the new car, outside of some tire plugs. There is a bit of a rattle when I let out of the clutch. It sounds like its coming from the tranny/flywheel/clutch area. I am not the most mechanically inclined person, so I can't exactly figure out what it is. My clutch pedal feels fine, it just sounds wierd.

May help to lube the clutch fork. Let me see if I can find a link.

Thanks, I might be able to check it out this weekend, if not I might get one of you guys to listen and take a look at the next SCCA auto-x.

This may help now it's for a 95 but the clutch slave is basically the same as shown on the service bulletin.

It's sounds like the throw out bearing might be going out. How many miles and what year?

A bad throw out starts off as a small rattle and develops into a awful noise.

But this might be the worst case scenario.

Dude... they all do it. Mine's been doing it since I bought it. Grease the fork if it bugs you. Don't sweat it!!!! Ask solo2evo about what the lightweight flywheel in his M3 sounded like... that alone should make you stop worrying.
Maybe 4 wheels aren't so bad after all... wickett.org

I was going to say throw out bearing, but it looks like this is a common problem in NBs.

I had a lightweight flywheel in the M3 and almost solid tranny bushings. It was pretty embarrassing how my car sounded at traffic lights.

It happens in the Na's also. My makes me sound like a mac truck. Changed the fluid in the tranny with some royal purple and it still does it. The bad thing is I wasted some perfectly good tranny fluid that I didn't need to change.
