Thread: Work in Progress

    Default Work in Progress

Well, I figured I'd let you guys in on the progress of my car. It's in need of a LOT of work for various reasons. Here is a picture from last year when my baby was in optimal condition..

Unfortunately, I was run off the road at about 6 a.m. coming home from work and this was the result..

Thanks to Adam, I was able to get a replacement fender immediately. I took the sander to it and a few other parts and primered them. After reinstalling and aligning those parts up, I took off the damaged headlight completely.

My dad was able to find a complete headlight for me and Adam gave me a replacement turn signal light.

I've also started to primer the whole car piece by piece so that I can eventually just repaint the entire thing back to the original color. The fender was half blue half primer and the rest of the car was badly oxidized so I figured I might as well give it a beauty makeover. lol

In the meantime, I've dealt with an overheating problem which caused me to replace the thermostat, water pump, radiator, various hoses, and now I have a hole about the size of a quarter in my header. Thankfully someone on this forum lent a stock manifold out to Adam who in turn gave it to me so that I can get mine patched. BUT I can't seem to find someone that can patch it up correctly for a decent price. So I've ghetto rigged it by placing a sheet of metal over the hole and clamping it down. I don't want to remove my header unless I'm sure I can get it fixed or else I'm going to have to save up the money to buy a new one.

If any of you have any ideas, comments, or suggestions PLEASE give them. I have all the time in the world on my hands right now because I'm on break from school and I lost my job. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I'll keep you updated!

Hey Mallory, I really need to call a guy, work has been hell the last couple of weeks, but I'm pretty sure we can find a place in Arlington for your header. I'll call him and give you a call tomorrow too.

that sucks man. I've been there with other cars. You can get a $40 plastic welder from harbor freight and fix the bumper yourself.
