Aside from the monster warranty? Hmmm... perhaps lack of taste? Ignorance? Blindness? I could go on...![]()
Alright professors, I need someone to explain this one to me.![]()
Hyundai has a new Tiburon coming out. The 2.7L V6 model will have 172hp, will cost $22,595, and looks like this:
Not a bad looking car, but it's the same price as a 263hp MS3 and $1,500 more expensive than a 197hp Civic Si. And it's a Hyundai.
So here's the question: aside from the monster warranty, why should someone buy this car?

2.7l v6 and under 200hp? That is so sad.

I really doubt that... Has torque though...
I searched around to see if I could find anything on mod potential... not any more than every other car. This was fairly amusing though...

Doesn't a portion of the purchase price go toward the "Save the Tiburon Fund"?![]()

...and its only available in an automatic.
Really. I don't care what their web site says.
My wife decided she like the styling of the Tiburon and we were looking at these earlier this year. I contacted every dealer within 100 miles and not a single one had one with a manual trans. They had every color/trim/engine combo available, but only in an auto. And none of them could even get a manual. The funny thing was trying to get the salesmen to understand that an auto was a dealbreaker for my wife. They couldn't imagine a woman wanting a stick...
Anyway, she gave up on that and I found her a cherry Prelude instead. And we're both much happier![]()
+1 for ludes. Is it the older (rounded) body or the newer (straight) body? The H22's in them respond well to mods.
Oh and as far as Tibs go I kinda wanted one when I first got my Accent. Then I slowly realized I didn't want any Hyundai .

V-Tech is an electronics manufacturer.
VTEC is an acronym that stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift, Electronically Controlled. It is a system patented by Honda to make normally aspirated engines that have no low-end torque feel like poorly turbocharged engines with no low-end torque and turbo lag at 5000-6000rpm.![]()

D'oh! I know that! Of course, when you're not paying close attention to what you're typing and there's a V-Tech phone sitting right in front of you on your desk as you type...![]()
I've always wondered how they got VTEC from "Variable Valve Timing and Lift, Electronically Controlled" Shouldn't it be VVTLEC?? Honda may make good cars, but they apparantly don't know how acronyms work...![]()
