As for those with more restraint, keep the speed down there... Radar cameras are in the works.

Thing is, this takes away the officer's judgement. Was there a reason for the person to be speeding (emergency, injury)? Were they being reckless? Were they going with the flow of traffic? Who knows! It's a photo!! Did the right person even get the ticket? All of our cars are under my name, but my wife always drives the Prelude (and rarely slowly ) She speeds, I get ticket. Sounds fair... Of course you can argue that to the judge as long as you're willing to take the day off and deal with the frustration that is traffic court.

Attorneys will have a field day discrediting this technology. All this does is keep traffic ticket lawyers in business.

Britain has had speed cameras for years. The great thing about this is that you'll always know where they are, and I doubt they're using instant-on.

That said, I'd have no problem with agressive speed enforcement at all... if the speed limits were set at 85th percentile speeds instead of some arbitraily low, '50s-era, ridiculous revenue generating number.

This isn't the first time Texas cities have tried speed cameras. They did it in the late 80s and as I recall the whole concept was found to be unconstitutional. Red Light cameras got by on a technicality which is why everyone went that way. I'll be curious to hear more about this.

I hope this does not jinx me, but I have not gotten a ticket in YEARS. Maybe 5-6. And I drive about 25k miles a year around DFW seeing clients. What does this mean? I dunno....
