Does Fram have a better reputation for their air filters than they do for their oil filters?

After reading about their oil filters, I'd be a little scared to use anything Fram makes.

I've got a drop in K&N filter that I used for the season that I was in E-stock that's sitting in my garage. They usually sell for $35-$40 new, I'm looking for $20. It was cleaned and reoiled recently.

I still buy the Mazda air filters from Eldorado. They only charge me around $15 for air filters and $6.50 for oil filters when I use the right parts guy.
