Since I was given a co-drive last week, I can pay it forward this week. My shocks are crap, but my tires are new. Just PM me if you need the ride.

The surface is asphalt. I expect it to be better than TMS, but not as good as Mineral Wells.

Whoa there! What in the world is good about the surface at Mineral Wells except the size?!?! I'd take the TMS surface any day.

If you think you have a lot higher grip at Mineral Wells the Vorshlag guys have data acquisition to argue that. Plus, you have to compromise your line at Mineral Wells to stay out of the marbles.

I was referring to the TMS bus lot, not the TMS road course. To which are you referring?

Man, this thread is going all over the place!

I'm referring to the bus lot surface. I like it, it's consistent, gravel free and easy on tires. BTW, isn't the surface at Heartland Park supposed to be similar?

Similar. It's asphalt and relatively flat. However, I felt that Heartland Park offered more grip... at least until you get off line and into the dust!

I fully agree with your points about the bus lot and I understand that the first two points reference grip, but in regards to the grip offered by the actual surface material, I think Mineral Wells has more grip than the TMS lot. I also hate the Mineral Wells chews up tires, but I'll just live with it.

Of the three locations at which I have raced, Mineral Wells is now my fav. TMS is probably second, and Bedford is third. The only thing Bedford really has to offer is being closure to home (<10 min) and more food options (which matters less now that I usually bring a lunch). Still, I like moving around from site to site, so I'll take it where I can get it.

I prefer MW to TMS as well, primarily because you can run larger, faster courses out there.

As for Pennington - if we never run there again, I won't shed a tear. The lot is too small to stage a really good course, and now that Nationals is on asphalt getting seat time on a concrete surface is irrelevant.

I love the courses at Mineral Wells, I just don't like the surface. Too bad I moved here after they stopped running courses at the west lot at TMS.

I'll be at the McD's at 121/Beach around 7:30. Closest one on my way to LaGrave. YMcDMV.
