    Today's the last day to get in on the intro special on those roll bars, and I think I'm going to pass. Taking everyone's input into consideration, as well as really looking at where it would sit in my car, I don't see it being enough of a benefit to me to warrant the expense. Especially since I don't need one as I don't race/track. I really appreciate everyone's help steering me in the right direction!

    So... I think I'm going to get the Good-Win brace and call it a day (photo). I'm leaning this direction over the Frenzy mainly because it sits lower and has less visual impact (the Frenzy sits level with the tops of the seatbelt towers). Hopefully that will stiffen up the back a bit. Plus it costs a whole lot less than the roll bar!!

    For what it's worth, I think you made the right decision for you.

    Have you added back some of the OEM bracing that was removed, that may help also and be team cheap bastard approved!

    I've got to say, nothing stiffens up a Miata like a roll bar.
    I don't know anything about this "no brainer" bar but with the hard core bar, if you can fit in your car with the top up you'll be lower than the roll bar. the top of my hard core bar touches the underside of the soft top when it's up.

    I just don't see that little brace stiffening your chassis anywhere near as well as a roll bar. Still, roll bars do have down sides and I can understand if you don't want to put one on.
    In that case you might want to look at (this) as well as the Good-Win brace. I think you can get it from Track Dog as well but I don't see it on the web site.

    I did get all of the OEM bracing replaced, albeit with much grumbling The chassis isn't bad, but every bit of stiffness helps!

    I know you can't beat the roll bar for stiffness. You are incorrect, though, when you say, "if you can fit in your car with the top up you'll be lower than the roll bar". Since the top of my head touches the soft top, it means the top of my head is even with the bar. I sat in Tim's car with the M2 sport and was literally using the bar as a headrest. I love the idea, but the reality, and the mechanics, aren't going to work for me (not without a lot more expense in changing seats, anyway). I have a real concern with the head clearance issue since I've been rear-ended about a dozen times over the years. The number of times I've rolled a car has been zero. So while I'd like a roll bar, it has to be safe for me in the ever-present possibility/probability of a rear-ender!

    lol, I agree. If you can't put the top up without your head touching it, a roll bar would just be something to bang your head on. And if you're tall and get rear-ended your going to bang you head on the roll bar. I know this from experience, thank goodness for SFI padding.
