Let's hope the Jetta doesn't run into the electrical problems...
I'll lease a German car, but I'll never own one again.
My friend bought a 1999 black and tan from town north a few months back. think he payed 8900 for it. it was in perfect shape, with only 40K miles on the clock.
he traded it in yesterday for a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta.
the worst part is that i know his girlfriend is in love with Jettas, she has wanted one for a long time. im absolutly sure she had a hand in it, but he said it was ALL his decision.he is the definition if whipped, but i never thought hed traded his Miata for a lame jetta.

I think it's rather telling that three of the mods who previously owned VWs (TC, beano, and myself) all have rather negative things to say about their reliability. Heck, I owned my VW well over a decade ago, but the experience was negative enough that I don't think I'll ever own another.

WOW!!! I really was debating on a VW Jetta TDI back in Dec 2003 when I decided on the '04 Honda Civic HYBRID. I don't have too many good things to say about that Honda Either. I always heard that they were reliable. Why then did I have to replace a CVT transmission at 19,000 mile and had a slippping sensation at 36,000 when I decided to buy a '05 MSM.
I LOVE THE MSM!!!
Sorry Honda Boys.

Very true about the Jettas and their owners. I, thankfully, had a B5.
I had 3 VWs. The last one was a 1st gen Jetta. It was a POS and my last VW ever!

POS is just all over the place lately...
I woulda sworn that the B5 was more of an A4 (Audi) beneath...
Won't say I *hate* VW AG, but I do think they're colossally stupid for stigmatizing otherwise fine cars with bottom-rung reliability -- turning many former owners into viral anti-marketing.
