Thread: Catch Can Water?

    Default Catch Can Water?

Some of you boys and girls may remember the engine bay fire problems I had at an event late last year caused by oil form the valve cover breather dripping on the header pipe below. Well, I installed a catch can to trap the oil this off-season, so as not to cause Miatamoto any further embarrassment should he ever co-drive my car. I've driven the car maybe several hundred miles this winter and decided to see if anything was in the catch can. I didn't expect to see any oil, since the engine hasn't been reved over about 5K rpm. When I opened the drain, guess what poured out? WATER!! Clear water. Where would it be coming from?

My car exceeds my driving ability. That's the only possible explanation.

I put it in there in case I ever drive your car again and need to put out a fire.

Maybe you have one of those hydrogen fuel cells? They produce water.

I have to go with Randy on this one. It seems like the most plausible answer.
