Well Merv any issues with Shelley's car??
Actually, none except a clock that didn't keep time. Of course they replaced it at the first service interval and all is fine. Speaking of service, we bought it at Moritz in Arlington, and they have been great. They came to Shelley's office to pick up the car, left her a nice BMW325 to drive and weren't in any big hurry to get it back, even though the Mini was finished early. The Mini was bright and shiny when it was returned, and EVERYTHING is covered under warranty. I have nothing bad to say about the car. It gets 32-35mpg and really has lots of space, as long as you don't have more than one rear seat passenger. Visibility is fantastic. It does take a bit of time to remember the wheels are at the corners....... It's not an 'S', which I would have preferred, but it's still fun to drive....and I've been very good to the car. Never been to the Ranch, and never to redline.

I'd buy her a BMW and tell her to drive it or take the bus

If you do decide on the convertible, the center spedo can be replaced with a set of gauges for two-fitty and the speedo put where it is supposed to be, next to the Tach.

I had a little buyers remorse after I took my friends Mini out on a test drive. It's also a fun car to drive.

It's bugly!!! Volvo/Mazda or whatever it is, add two more inches to the window height and you'd have an AMC Pacer.

    Miscellaneous rambling....

The Mini site lets you build your car, but then will not locate it for you. You can e-mail them with your dream car, then listen to some punk tell me I really don't want the color she chose, and my wife would look better in the one he happens to have in stock.

Oh ya did you know limited slip is not something you really need in Texas, was my other favorite statement.

And if I want to order it it will be at least 8 weeks, kinda sucking the fun outta the project.

Damn. Would it be that hard to write you back and say: Well, Mr. POS, it will take 8 weeks to custom order the exact car you want. We'll need a $500 deposit, and we're ready to start the paperwork as soon as you can get in here?

Wouldn't hurt, or they could do a locate and tell me there is one in Pigsqueeze, Miss. that they could transport to me for an slight transportation charge.

Especially since many folks buying this time of year are trying to get the transaction done so they can still deduct the sales tax for '06.
