Oooooo!
V The Second Generation is "in production".![]()
Just rented the 80's miniseries, V from Blockbuster Online. I loved this show as a kid and wanted to see it again.
I've only watched part 1 so far.
Observations: CGI is much better than the SFX they had then. No shadows under the landing craft. The chick swallowing the guinea pig was completely unrealistic and the alien lizard was obviously a mask. It's amazing how good current SFX is.
Other progressions in the last 24 years. (Yeah! 24 years! 1983, good gawd I'm getting old!)
My observations:
USSR was still a scary evil empire.
Arab guys weren't evil, just another UN member.
The most stylish car I've seen was an old Beetle convertible.
No cellphones.
No Internet or computers.
The aliens only had to circumvent the TV and Newspaper media and prevent people from leaving the cities in order to "alienate" the entire population.
The aliens are horrible shots. You'd think with all that technology they'd be able to hit the side of a barn.
The "crook" just so happens to be a black guy.
No black aliens.(but if there were, they'd be the first to die)
The first major human character to die IS black.
The mentally slow nice alien is a nerdy looking puny guy.
The evil alien woman is hawt.
Still, it is an entertaining series with obvious Nazi undertones. Acting is typical "made-for-TV" but actually better than some recent miniseries I've seen. Super Volcano comes to mind.
