The wife's school was starting at 10am, so I drove the Odyssey to take her in. We saw only 2 pickups and one Nissan Maxima on the 10 mile drive. The Maxima was in the ditch, entangled with a pipe and cable fence.

The roads were not very bad, as long as you kept your speed down. We arrived at school at about 8:45am and were met by the head of maintenance, who told us that school had been called off while we were in route. We turned around and came back home, and saw only three pickups in the 10 miles back home.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

MLK is a floating holiday for me. Since I worked in Granbury all weekend, I didn't want to do another day of it so I took Shelley to work, then came on in. That gives me a day off whenever I want it instead in the yucky weather. Been a very quiet day, so it was nice being here...........

I had to go in, lunch was dead. I had 4 tables, but still made a decent day out of it. I get to go back too! The roads were very slick today, but not much ice. I was really happy with the people doing 10mph up a hill. It would have been much easier to keep a steady speed than to go so slow you have to accelerate again to get over the hill. These "safe" drivers are the same ones that turn and brake at the same time...

FedEx is like the USPS. Rain, Ice, Snow, Nuclear Winter, we're open!

    I'll be working tonight.

I imagine we will be pretty light on freight though.

I left for work at 5:25....during the last 5 minutes of the ice shower. I spun the tires all the way to work on a 13 mile long sheet of ice.

I worked, the drive sucked, ice the whole 9 miles, drove my rental Ram 1500 crew cab, what a pig. How does Chrysler make a truck feel like an eggshell?

Oh, and we're off work today for MLK.

Holy Crap its cold out there. Nothing like 60 MPH in an open Jeep in 25 degree weather. He finished the Jeep about 6 and I got to drive it home.

I am glad that I took my wife's Millenia with traction control and ABS instead of my Miata. The bridges noth of downtown Dallas were so bad that they were blocked by the 18-wheels went sideway! It was just a little slick from Rowlett to downtwon. As soon as I hit 35 going north, everything stopped! I was 30 minutes late. There is no such thing as "ice day" for the hospital. People still get sick and die, good weather or not!

Drove the 40 miles to work and it only took 2 hours instead of the usual 1. George Bush was shut down at 183. 635 was a parking lot for the majority of the north loop. Once I was on 183 there was barely anyone on the road. Took 20 freaking minutes to clean off the windshield this morning on the beater though!

Maybe Bean could have the news add a segment on how to drive on slick roads & ice! I had to be at the hockey rink way out in Euless at 7am for MLK tournament. Took forever since everyone was driving 10-20mph like someone already mentioned. Roads didn't seem bad at all to me, just a little ice on the bridges. Hilarious watching everyone hit their brakes after they get on the ice covered bridge causing them to spin or the person behind to slide into them! Saw a couple spin-outs and fender benders driving the 30+ mile trip at a 6am. All they have to do is point the wheel straight and coast across!

Great talking with all the out of town hockey teams from Colorado, Detroit, Kansas etc. One guy said, "I thought we were all gonna die after watching the local news forcast last night!" Of course they're the same numnuts complaining it's too hot at 80* when they visit!
