I'll be there...April, June, and October!!!

I'll be camping in the reserved Workhorse campground. Just look for the camper with all the SCCA & Mazdaspeed flags!

Any interest in getting a group together to go to the IRL race on 12JUN2004 or 17OCT2004? The crowd for IRL isn't quite as big as for the NASCAR events, and even though it's "roundy-round" racing, it's a ton of fun to be there (kinda like baseball... boring as all get-out to watch on TV, but to be at the ballpark, with a beer and a dog...).
Anyway, we might have some fun at the event, and if we had enough people, maybe we'd rent a bus or something so that we wouldn't have to mess with the traffic (I have no idea how much that would cost...). I've already checked the Autocross Calendar, and right now there are no AX's scheduled for either of those days.
Any interest?

How are those seats? When I went to the IRL race last year, I had good seats, but not great seats -- I had some chainlink fencing and poles (from the retaining "wall" that surrounds the stairway) right in my line of sight. Of course, I could see through the fencing, but it was a bit irritating.Originally Posted by onething
We moved to higher seats, and it worked out great.
I like being nearer to the end of the tri-oval / front "straight" away... sort of as high up in PL128 as possible. But heck, I'm not that picky, as long as the seats aren't along the back stretch...
Yes I'm interested!Originally Posted by Kestrel

SUre I would love to go as a group.
i'll be there every race too (irl, nastruck, nascar). my buddies dad has a spot in the infield. if any of you can get in there, feel free to stop by. i usually just stay out all night too. drinking till 4 in the morning and then waking up at 7 to the sounds of engines. oh yeahhhh :)
Our seats are below the walkway. No chain link in sight, and right at the entrance to pit laneOriginally Posted by Kestrel
I've sat in other areas, and I think we did pretty well in picking ours. Not the fancy plastic - just aluminum bleachers, but I like that too. If you bring a cushion, it is actually more comfy to my old butt.
I am interested also. I think it would be fun with a group also. Hey maybe we could score some seats near "onething" and heckle him during the race also.![]()

Or better yet tell her the drivers don't wear anything under their driving suits. That will really get her attention.Tell her the drivers wear leather shorts under their driving suits. That'll get her attention!!!![]()
Well, I don't know what they wear under their suits... but I'm sure they'd enjoy it if you would ask.Originally Posted by IMVivid
So I think I'll work on this for the June 12th race. I'll be hotter than hades, but it should be a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it last year.
Is there any interest in the "alternative transportation to and from the event" idea? You know, like renting a bus (with a restroom so that we could par-tay while sitting in traffic)? It would probably be pretty expensive, but would be a lot of fun. If we wanted to go that route, perhaps we could open the offer up to the S2000 boys-n-girls, and a select fewof the Outlaws. If we could fill the bus, it would be a lot cheaper per person...

Hey that would make for one crowded bathroom!!!!
I thought I saw something http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/default.asp
that said they had buses running from Ft. Worth to the track. Maybe that was just the Winston uheruh Nextel weekend.
Looks like the SCCA Divisional is the same weekend as the IRL race.![]()
Well, there's always the October 17th IRL race at TMS... but you'd have to give up a Drifting Event at Pennington Field :P .
I'm signed up for the Divisional. I've never done one of those, and thought I'd go be "trophy fodder" (the cars that run at the bottom of the pack so that more drivers get trophies) for this one...
Between seats and camping, I've got more tied up than a new set of 16" Azenis. I also have no R tires and the divisionals don't do a Street Tire class.
Guess what I've decided![]()
See you there onething, anyone got hookups on tickets?
I may see if I can weasel a ticket out of leadfootjon's sister and go, especially if the Divisional ends up being cancelled (which looks like a distinct possibility).
