Congrats! Post up some pics.
Well,
She's back! And I need to make some SERIOUS room in the garage to fit her in.
Cage is in, kill switch is mounted, seat is mounted, extinguisher is mounted, hard top is bolted in, and window net is in, but no harnesses are mounted yet.
To do: Replace rear finish panel, hail damage repair, wire in the kill switch, install fuel test port, paint the roll cage/interior, and paint the outside.
I've never done bondo on aluminum before. Any special tips or tricks? There are tons of little dings to fill in and sand down smooth - including a bunch of spots the PO did poorly that have to be redone.
I'm going to repaint her a cheap shade of white on the outside and use a rechargeable spray can to finish out the interior (the metal panels that aren't usually painted) in the original factory white paint. I'm thinking the roll cage will be painted a shade of blue to match the harness and window net.
Pics will come later today. It was dark when she came home.

Sounds cool, I wanna see it.
i got a tip for you on the Bondo if you're feeling creative. Get some polyester resin and hardner (fiberglass resin) and get a can of Rage Gold autobody filler (or Bondo since rage gold is hard to find here) then mix a 5:1 ratio with its according hardener and that will give you a mixture you can brush onto your dents, it will smooth out by itself (in warmer weather), its easier to sand, and won't crack like Bondo usually does over time...

Resin 1
congrats on getting the car

As soon as I can get some pics taken I'll get 'em on the board. Need to start working on the garage now. I have to get 'er in there before it starts raining again. At least I have a few days before that is supposed to happen.

OK OK!
Here are pics. Keep in mind that the car is not ready for paint so it still looks ugly.

Sweet cage work. how much weight did that add to the car?
Why worry about the hail dents? It's a racecar!!!!!! One suggestion: Trim up all those rough edges on the drivers door and roll them away from your body. Those edges can tear you up in a hurry.
What type/size of materials were used in the cage? It looks big and shiny.

If you want to paint the interior, I have a gravity feed touch up spray gun that works pretty well. I used it when I worked on Airplanes.
Also, the Preval paint system is neat. It keeps the paint in a glass jar below and sucks it up to the nozzle on top. More like a real paint gun.
