When the Escort stopped running on I35 near Marietta, OK last summer, an OK State Trooper pulled over to check on us. He let us sit in his car for almost 15 minutes with the a/c running while we waited for my son-in-law to bring a battery. When we decided to pull the car farther off the road, he jumped out and helped push. And, I had the tire tail on and he could not see the tag. He just ask what the plate number was. Very nice man.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

There's a lot of them like that, you'd be surprised. A little rarer in large cities, but still there. Small towns are hit-and-miss, depends on if they've been ordered to bring in more revenue For the most part, small town cops are pretty nice from what I've seen.

And State Troopers are by far the most professional. And there is a female trooper that pulled me over south of Waco.... mmmm.. we was flirting

Heh. Not really. Let me take y'all back to the summer of '05....

Yesterday afternoon the wife and I took the CR-V to lovely Paris, Texas to watch my nephew play in a little league tournament.

So I'm cruising up State Road 24 from Commerce to Paris. It's 7pm, the sky is clear, the sun is out, there isn't anyone ahead of me for miles, and the speed limit is 70mph. I've got the cruise set on 76mph, when State Trooper Bumfvck - coming from the other direction - whips a U-turn with lights blazin' and sirens screamin', like I'm some wanted fugitive.

That sorry SOB wrote me a ticket for 76mph in a 70mph zone. Are you kidding me? Yeah, I know that 'technically' what I did was wrong, but usually when I get a ticket, I know that I deserved it. This was just good, old-fashioned, inbred hillbilly revenue generation, plain and simple.

Even better? The damn ticket - for six mph over the posted limit - is a hundred and thirty bucks! Dammit!

When he pulled me over and asked me - literally - "Where's the fire, sonny?" I wanted to respond "Are you fvcking kidding me? I'd get rear-ended by a little old lady going this slow where I'm from."

Just to prove what a petty, small-town SOB this prick of a "peace officer" was, as I was signing the ticket, a tour bus drove by. The turbulence from the bus knocked Dudley Do-Right's hat off, even though the bus had pulled into the oncoming traffic lane to pass us. After Lieutenant Jackass finished issuing my involuntary tax summons and I was free to go, he passed me on a double-yellow line with no lights or sirens doing well over 85mph (don't you love it when the laws apply equally to those in power as well? ), and two minutes later I came upon him again... lights blazing behind the very same tour bus that he'd just pulled over.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I know we've got some law enforcement types on this board, and I know all cops aren't crooked, inbred, power-tripping jackasses. Just the one I met yesterday.

    One More

I was driving my 91 CRX east on 114 at the 121 FTW exit, you know where the on ramp is also an exit ramp.
Well this Jeep Cherokee is on the ramp, no signal, so i figure he is going to Fort Worth.
He isn't, just too lazy to signal to let me know.
Well he swerves at me to scare me into slamming on my brakes.
That pissed me so I don't give space, he then looks at me and rams my CRX across the freeway with his Co car.
Can you say Road Rage! All he had to do was signal.
Well Grapevine PD showes up and I explain what happened and they do absolutely nothing but keep me from whipping this dude ass.
I felt like I was in Hicksville TX, and this dude is po-po's Brother n law.
I didn't know the magic word "Road Rage" at the time.
Insurance didn't want to pay until I said Road Rage, they took care of it the next day.
I had had my 91 CRX-SI a week, It was super nice and you know those are hard to find low miles/no rice.
