Default AACStyle has a new product...

And it's a headlight lid just like I was about to buy!

    Top

    Bottom

    From his email:

Here are the pictures of the headlight lid that I was talking about. This lid was designed from a factory headlight lid and was test fitted before it was sent off to production. I have yet to fit it since I got it but everything should fit fine. As you can tell the legs were made in metal so that they can be bent to make sure of proper fitment. The unit is very tight and easily weighs a pound or less. Having these mass produced will only take a few weeks once I have a comitment from at least 10 people for the $89.00 intro rate. Shipping should be under 10 dollars for anywhere in the continetal U.S. I will have my paypal account setup tonight and we should be good to go for taking orders.

The money can be paid up front intially and then when the pieces come in and I have a set shipping rate, the rest can be sent for shipping. If you are interested we can make this a reality! Also if you know anyone who would like one please have them email me so we can get to 10 units!

P.S. I only have driver side units right now but if there is a large enough demand for passenger side I will have those made in the future as well.

    Thanks

I like them but I'd end up painting them. I prefer the solid black thing I got going.

That's kinda what i was thinking. It looks like they took a stock lid, cut a V, and overlayed it with CF and epoxy.

Now if it was make out of some dry weave carbon/kevlar mix = sexy

Then you get something like this

This guy also has Moss lo-pro lights and uses the 4" NACA duct. (Hint BR)

Yea it really does look like that. But what I wanna know is.....what happens to all that water when it rains.....can you say wet engine bay?

Same thing happens when you go barreling down the road and hit a puddle... wet engine bay.

Just curious... are you having a bad day? All you've seemed to do today is complain

That's an NACA duct, aerodynamically shaped to provide the most airflow. It almost sucks air in. BTW Revlimiter (whose car you posted) actually designed this thing.

And you're worried about that why? Is you're engine bay too pretty to get wet? I've never heard of anyone having problems and there's quite a few headlight lid intakes on the market.

EDIT: Holy crap that looks like my car

I'm having a great day actually. I was just voicing my opinion on this head light lid.

My engine bay is actually decently dirty, but its dry none the less.

    ....

Well I just thought you would want the best duct possible. And thanks for letting me know that this guy designed the one on the first page.

The ideal lid I'm talking about is most likely one piece multilayered CF, that employs the aerodynamic principles of the NACA duct. No rivets, no overlay, no metal.
    Just CF and epoxy.

Er... that's what this one is. I think it was mistaken for a stock lid overlaid because he had the presence of mind to use metal mounting clips.

I have had my NACA duct on for about a year and have not had any problems. Yes, it gives another entry point for water into the engine bay, but it isn't like the engine compartment is a sealed compartment to begin with.

    On this pic

It looks like there has been some fiberglass used to build up the duct.

I've been wanting to do something with my lids. Initially I thought an old school touch of louvers. Lately thought that idea is not as appealing. I'm now thinking of doing something along the lines of what Revlimiter did. I actually like the rivets.

The stock lids are actually stamped steel. Not heavy to begin with but CF would be lighter.

Another thing I've considered is the Zoom Engineering lids.
