It worked great in a 3-wheeler when I was a teenager... after it was done I had to use a different spark plug due to the change in the size of the hole.

I got an email from a young lady who coincidentally has the same name(no relation) , and she has a 93 miata with a stripped sparkplug hole. Has anyone used a helicoil to repair this type of problem? If so what is involved? She is thinking about replacing the engine, which has 154K, but I would think that a helicoil might put off an engine swap for another 50K.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris

Lightness? What's that? I drive a PRHT!
It works pretty well in a GM head, I did it to a 403 Olds I had. You had to pull the head to ensure you didn't get any of the shavings in the motor. Pull the head take it to a reputable shop get her done!
BTW I have heard of folks who have done this operation without pulling the head but I'd be concerned about random metal shavings messing up the motor. YMMV
