Default Any Linux Geeks in Here?

I found out that Radio-Active dabbled in Linux years ago and introduced him to Ubuntu Linux when we were doing the brakes on my Miata.

Anyone here a Linux user? What distros, if you want to share?

I use Ubuntu Linux 7.04 on my laptop and desktop machines. I am about to set-up a Kubuntu Linux machine for my parents, so I won't have to deal with headaches of maintenance or virus attacks as well as a system in their language.

My laptop dual boots (as well as has an Ubuntu 7.04 VM). My wife's laptop & desktop are 7.04. I have a couple servers running on 6.06.

Sweet! You wouldn't happen to be on the Ubuntu Dallas forum, would you?

Nope... it works well enough that I just use it. Not a Linux "enthusiast" per se. Just take advantage of that which works... So that I have time for Miatas... and RX8's... and bicycles... and 1/8th scale buggies... and Forza 2 (Demo launches at 3 AM CDT!!!!)

I have a copy of Back|Track2 but it doesn't like my Dell laptop's widescreen resolution...

Previous to Ubuntu, I have played a bit with BSD and SuSE.

Now, if you have a good recommendation of comprehensive security suite compatible with widescreen laptops that run as Live CD's... Do share!

mandriva is always a good one and works very well with the laptops ive used it on. then again it is the fattest of all the distros and will work on a microwave if you want it to.
and ive got a copy of linspire thats bootable cd and ive got a copy of f.i.r.e. but thats probably not what youre looking for.
i dunno really ill look around a bit more, if i get the time ill just make you a distro with the packages you want.

Packing a distro would work, just widescreen support and comprehensive security auditing tools on a Live CD are the main things I am looking for.

Agreed on Mandriva... That one is a beast!
