    Default Make mine a.... Tiburon!?!?

Spy shots of the 2010 rwd Hyundai Tiburon

    Who woulda thunk it?

This and the upcoming Hyundai Genesis V8-powered, RWD sedan should really up Hyundai's profile in the United States. It's nice to see another Asian car manufacturer working on affordable rwd cars - now when are Toyota and Honda going to get the message that FWD is for losers?

Spy photos indicate the Tiburon's transmission options will include a manual gearbox.
    Yeah, whatever.
Try actually buying one with a manual gearbox...

Well, it's still a Hyundai... but at least it's a far, far cry from this little shitbox:

The Excel was supersceded by the Accent. I used to have a white 96 Accent back in the day. It had a whole 1.5 L engine of fury.

There's a 2001 Accent sitting in front of my house at this moment... the paint is falling off, the power windows don't work (both windows just fall down into the door, you have to prop them up), the engine is falling apart, the transmission barely works, reverse doesn't work at all, half the wheels are bent, the exhaust broke apart, the interior is worn to pieces, and it looks like total crap.

    But the CD player works!!!

I don't think I'll be considering a Hyundai in the near future

So give us the real Scoupe.

I think it's one better than a Yugo.

Good point... the Yugo was a Yugoslavian-built FIAT.

I'm not sure how you top that.

    Belongs to my roommate.

Do all scrapyards, salvage yards, or junkyards require the car title or can you just dump it on them and get your money? We need to rid of this POS NOW.

I think you gotta have a title... otherwise, every crackhead who could hotwire a car would be down at the junkyard for his weekly "payday"...

I was afraid of that. This thing is a blight on the neighborhood... somebody already drove by and bashed the passenger window in. Trouble is, the title is in Houston... actually my roommate is down there now, I need to tell him to grab the title.

Toyota probably will never get the message nor care in the US. They are making money hand over fist selling Camrys and 40 mpg Corollas. Honda has the S2000 and I would rather own a FWD new Civic SI over a RWD V6 Tiburon anyday. BTW it looks like they stole the steering wheel straight off of a new civic. I also find it hilarious that the article states the Hyundai thinks it's going to take market share from the upcoming G37 Infiniti.

I read that too: "Compete with Infiniti G37, Lexus GS, BMW 5-series, and M-B E-class". Hold your horses there! The Genesis looks good but one step at a time :)

Also, I looked at a magazine the other day, and it turns out that 2009 is the last year of the S2000. Apparently it hasn't been selling well because it is "too pure of a sports car". So it will be replaced with what is basically a RWD Civic Si (same K20 engine as said Si) convertible priced to compete with the Miata & Solstice. It was Automobile Magazine btw.

The S2000 has never met worldwide sales expectations since its introduction. Moreover, magazines have been predicting its demise since... oh, about 2002. I'll believe it when I see it.

Besides, Automobile is usually only one step above the Weekly World News.

    I don't know,

I like the S2K, but why spend $30k+ on a Honda when you can get a Miata for ~$20K? It's a great looking and driving car, though.

Well, the S2000 is a somewhat faster car and I love the whole attitude of the S2000 ("I am about nothing but driving and nothing else"). Coincidentally that's also one reason why I got the Miata over my other options. The S2000 is definitely a "if I had more money sort of car".

altain is probably right about Automobile and it's journalistic standing. But I was waiting for a prescription to be filled at a drug store and there was nothing better to read. Either that or "Generic tuner mag with half-naked girls on cars #218"

They also claimed that for 2009-2010 the Mazda Kabura concept is coming out with a RENESIS rotary instead of an MZR engine and will be sold as "RX-7". That is one I will hope to see come out, but again it's a believe it when I see it sort of thing.
