The bride says she wants new wheels on "her" car. My head is spinning at all the choices. I want to stay with the 16's and maybe a double 5 spoke but I am open for suggestions. No autocross and original tires still on as we only have 7K on them. I'm waiting for the debating![]()

Kosei K1s are nice...
Enkei RP-f1s aren't bad either...
And you can never go wrong with a set of Rota Circuit 8s...

Actually the tires are 215 35R 18's... probably no bigger around than what's on your car... well, maybe yours are 205s...Originally Posted by BigDmiata

It just makes the car look like it has big wheels, kinda like the old MGs had big wheels.![]()

Not disputing the size in comparison to stock, but it just looks like the car has a bunch of ground clearance in the picture on your site. Even my old '02 didnt see that high off the ground. My '97 was slammed, so it barely had any ground clearance.

Well... per my GPS, my speedo reads about 6% high... so your rolling diameter is about 6% greater than stock tires - almost 1.4 inches...Originally Posted by channelmaniac

Hey, its an end spot. Since I was parking for work I always try and go over the line a bit since so many cars come and go next to me. Thanks though...![]()

One thing you always have to be careful with when choosing new wheels for your Miata, is the weight of the wheels and the rolling diameter of the tyres.
Heavy wheels ruin the ride, make the steering response slower and will also affect your braking. A larger rolling diameter will make your car accelerate slower.
I had a set of nice 17" chromies on mine, and then swapped them for some super light 16" wheels, and the lighter wheels made a huge difference.
The standard wheels on a Miata are very light, so almost anything you buy aftermarket will be heavier, especially if they are cheap.
If you can, go for a set of forged wheels as they are light and strong, but like performance, you can have any 2 out of the following 3. Light weight, cheap and strong.
If you are chasing for pennies, look out for a brand called Starlight. These are forged aluminium wheels made in Taiwan, but the quality is really good, and the price is REALLY cheap. I don't know how much they are in the US, but here in Oz, the 16X7 are under US$95.00 each. These are about the only reasonably priced wheels which are actually lighter than the standard wheels. The 16X7 weighs 5Kg (about 10.5lbs).

Onya for the good acid Benny! I didn't want to go willy nilly on the purchase without looking at weights more closely.
