I'm reminded why I don't like dealing with other ins. companies.

Ended up calling and making a claim on my own. I won't have to wait 2 weeks for Farmer's to establish liability in order for me to get a rental car. 5 minute phone call to State Farm and they have my rental ready in about an hour.

Of course I'm out my deductible unless Farmer's gets their shit together soon and takes the claim before they decide the car is totaled.

Couldn't get an appt. today, but I set up 2 on Monday. If it's bad enough, I'll be heading to the hospital. I'm still pretty sore.

True, but my back probably wouldn't hurt like it does if I had been t-boned. It was pretty scary not being able to move due to the pain.

I'm out til sometime late Sunday. RSX All State meet in San Antonio, figure I shouldn't let this stop me from going. I'll just write RSX on my shoes, hopefully that's acceptable

You may want to be wary of going. If you should ever have a medical claim against the other driver's insurance they'll be able to show that you were apparently well enough to drive to (or at least attend) San Antonio after the accident and before you claimed a medical. Just a thought...

    that sucks...big time.

If it makes you feel any better. My jetta and miata have been hit when parked a total of 9 times. The miata couldn't even go 6 months without some dumbass hitting it in a parking lot.

I already claimed the medical and tried to get a doctor's appt. I even went to both of my doctors, just couldn't get in on a Friday with that short a notice.

That probably wasn't the best idea. Once you file a claim under your own policy, getting your deductible could be difficult. More importantly, when you come up for renewal that claim could come back to haunt you, even if it ends up being closed because the other inurance company determined their party was at fault. Don't ask me how I know this.

In the future I would suggest going to rent the car on your own nickel (assuming you have a credit card to secure the car), and send the other insurance company a bill once fault has been determined. You won't be billed for the rental until you return it, and by that time you should have fault determined and a check for a replacement vehicle or your own car back. Then submit the rental bill to the other insurance company and get a check for reimbursement.

No, my agent (not the company) is very good about keeping the higher ups in check. I went through this in January too, and he personally took care of it. That's why I've stuck with my agent so long and haven't bothered finding a cheaper insurance company.

Farmer's said it would take up to 10 days, so it's not like it's a long time anyways.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, Adam. Hopefully your car isn't totalled, although even it it is, I bet you get a pretty penny for it from the insurance company. Now you can get that Si you've been dreaming about.
