30 days until they "smash"
2 years before it's at capacity...
We still have time left to go to Hallett...
Yes! I'm quitting my job and maxing out my credit cards!
Nope. Will work as expected like previous colliders have.
Will destroy itself but stay contained to the area.
Won't work at all; nothing of interest is learned.
I don't care because I like cheese!
Don't care. Period.
Saw this article and thought it was interesting that one man could say that it would take four years for the Earth to be destroyed. Then someone said in the readers' comments below that this would match the timeline of the Mayan calender ending in 2012. Anyway, enjoy.

Remember the 'Super Conducting Super Collider' (or something like that) down in Waxahachie? We seemed to survive that. Didn't they want to turn that in to a roller-rink or something?
That one here in Texas was never completed IIRC.
Nope, it wasn't finished, Congress cut off funding after already spending $1,000,000,000 on it, so we had a billion dollar hole in the ground. I understand that for a while it was used as underground storage, but now it's all filled in. Taxpayer dollars at work. Fact is we should have finished the project, making the current project a day late.

Yeah if anybody is going to create black holes and destroy the world it should have been US!!
Ours WAS bigger... (from WIKI)
"Comparison of the SSC and the LHC accelerator:
The SSC was designed to reach a higher energy than its European competitor, the LHC.
The latter resulted to be less expensive not only because of its smaller size, but also because of the already existing engineering infrastructure built to host the previous accelerator Large Electron-Positron Collider (LEP), which was hosted in a 27 km long underground cavern."
Ours was in an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger IIRC. They got nothing on that (not even Angels & Demons).
