  1. #1

    Question Annual Tech for '08?

So anyone seen anything about the SCCA or ER bringing back annual tech this season?

We should be so lucky. It would be nice.

Bob Neff is the new Chief of Tech, and there will be an annual tech inspection for a select group of axers. Details will be posted on the Tx Region website as soon as they are finalized.

Anything else I say is entirely speculation, so don't ask. You just should have gone to the meeting.

The select axers is technically correct but is sounds a bit snobbish, so I'll clarify. I know onething didn't mean it that way, and it's certainly not the intent of our annual tech program.

Annual tech will be made available for experienced autocrossers who are SCCA members. Experienced is defined by participating in a minimum of 5 TX Region events in 2007. It's going to be a little bit different than in the past, but I think everyone will be pleased with the changes. It will definitely make your autox mornings with TX Region easier.

Full details will come out once we get the wordsmithing complete and blessed off by Doug Gill, Mgr of Solo Technical Services at HQ.

What if I don't have an SCCA membership number yet? Anyone know how to contact Mr. Neff?

Is ER going to recognize the annual tech at their events?

Mr. Neff needs proof of membership since you look kind of shifty!

On the ER question I'd bet the answer will be no! But I could be wrong!

For those going for the Saturday inspection, what time are you planning to be there?

Ditto. I thought I was going to be there instructing, so I did not put much thought into it, but now...

If you don't have your membership number yet shoot Bob an email and tell him what's up. He'll probably have you come out on Saturday anyway, do the tech and withhold your sticker until he sees the membership card. Provided you pass the inspecion you won't have to re-do the tech, just show the card when you get it and you're all set. If you have anything from the SCCA yet that indicates you're a member (email, invitation to a pool party at Howard Duncan's house) it will probably work.

I don't know for sure about ER honoring the SCCA tech inspection, but it's doubtful.

    From Bob:

We’ll start the process at around 9:00, once the school is off and running. I’ll be there pretty much all day, and don’t really know how many folks will show up or when they’ll arrive so it’s like tech at the events – first come, first served. There will be three of us doing tech, and a fourth filling in if/when he’s not instructing for the school, so get there any time after 9 and we’ll try to get you taken care of as quickly as we can.
