What the hell is that in the gauge cluster? Other than that, seems like a dumb idea. Slow, and it isnt like the miata is slicing through the air.

Well if you think about it this is probably the best lightweight car to make an electric car out of. One of my cross-country motorcycle trips I stop ed at Corbin who make an electric commuter car. It was quit and peppy, but the whine of the motor was annoying, not sure if I would want to live with that sound. We have all heard it before in a golf cart, just amplified as the speeds went up.

I like electric car tinkerers. I just wish they'd stop using conventional drive trains and bolt motors straight to the hubs. Think how much fun a 2200 pound Miata with a 20kw motor at each corner would be!

    Umm... ponderous?

I know a lot of people think that hubcentric electric motors will be the wave of the future in electric vehicles, but I wonder how many of those people have stopped to think of the implications of using heavy electric motors in integral wheel hubs. Nothing like hanging your point masses at all four corners of the car (bad for polar moment of inertia) and making them unsprung weight.

Why couldn't they have done that to one of those BLACK cars? There's lots of them out there. Instead they do things like this to the nice little blue ones.....

You? You're complaining about whinning? I thought you loved the whine?!

As for the Miata. Well Miatas are not rare. Even the Smurfy ones. So it doesn't bother me that they did this to a Miata. I actually appreciate the amount of effort and engineering that went into this. I'd think you'd need to be an electronics wiz to keep it maintained though. Still, I like it. Kind of like lowriders. I appreciate the effort but it just ain't for me.

That was actually a fiberglass replica trailer that was available in the early 90s. I kind of wish I had one.

That trailer would be a great use of the BUR... The rear axle can be used without fixing it... and the engine could go to the next FI junkie that blows a 1.6...

Did you get that parts source you were talking about? I'm wondering if the rear end on an automatic is the same gearing...
