Karting Update

The Fort Worth location has posted some additional information on their site.

Please respond to the poll above regarding the type of MME karting event you might be interested in. Once we agree on that we can try to find a date.

Before you go into sticker shock about the prices, do remember that these are honest-to-goodness shifter karts that will hit 45mph, and not the usual "amusement" karts you get at a Speed Zone.

That's the cost of a 20 minute member session at MSR and the $75 for half a day? That's the cost of a full day at the track. $75 x 2 = $150 which was the admission to Miatas at Hallett.

Good suggestion but I'm saving my dollars for the (hopeful) Father's Day at MSR.

What does your entry fee in an SCCA event buy you? Maybe 6-8 minutes of racing time if it's a long track and a not-too-crowded event? Plus you're using your own equipment (esp tires and brake pads) for the privilege. Plus you get to work a corner for half a day.

This is equipment plus 8 minutes of track time in a quality shifter kart. It seemed steep at first, but doesn't look so bad as I compare it to other options.

While the cost of seat time is high for what you actually get you'd be wrong on that. I'd AutoX if there was actually some events on this side of the globe. However I don't ever see myself getting to be as avid as some of the AutoX junkies.

I may actually make it out to a S2K event one of these days.
