I'm pretty much still back in the '90s as far as engine tech goes. I was reading about the Volvo XC90 SUV that is both supercharged and turbo charged. How does that work? Does the SC turn off once the turbo spools up or are both always on, working together?

Twincharging has been around for a while. My dad's friend had a twincharged Audi Quattro rally car where they were running in series, superchager for all around boost and turbo for more top end.
