I decided to keep the car, and yes sometimes I am wishy washy, and an impulse buyer....but I have been deciding on this bike for a couple of months now and feel confident with the purchase.

I don't think I will we joining the SBF guys, my days of doing stupid bike tricks are over.

Got me a Shoei matching full face helmet and some leather too.
will be picking up the bike tomorrow and will post some pics of the bike and my new Miata rims.

So who else here has a bike?, would love to go riding with some other folks.

Billy, check out twtex.com ... largely "mature" demographic, not too many sportbikes. Buncha pie runs coming up.

Is that the 800? WTF is up with a metric manufacturer switching to imperial displacement ratings at this late date?!

    yup 805cc
I have been asking myself a lot of questions about the changes in bikes from the last time I was riding.
Like why this 805cc bike isn't as fast as my Kawi 454LTD.
From what folks have said the powers that be have implimented changes in the gear ratios.
Most bikes now are fuel injected so you can't tinker with the carbs either.
This one does have carbs but I think at my age it will go faster than I will ever push it anyhow.....mainly it will be a weekend back roads machine.

I owned 14 bikes over the years, one day on the way back home from teaching an Advanced MSF course, a woman cut me off & I broke my left arm, collapsed left lung, broke 7 ribs. (I was wearing nearly $1K worth of riging gear, including an armored jacket, helmet, gloves, etc.

I really loved motorcycles, but never considered what it would feel like to be crippled for the rest of my life from an accident.

I've ridden bikes exactly 2 X's since then, and I just can't ride any more.

Putting the top down on my hairdresser's car is nearly as fun and a hell of a lot safer.

2 of my work friends have been killed on cycles since I quit riding, I spoke to them both about wearing helmets and protective riding gear prior to their deaths.
To do list: carpet X1, seatcovers X1

Man that's a shame....i don't understand why more people don't ride with helmets at least....however I am pro choice on the issue.

I try to stay away from the DFW area on a bike these days, and lots of traffic.

Great color choice Billy. I'm glad you're making the gear and helmet investment. It's also great that you have a fuel injected bike. I wish my SV was a fuel injected model. If you haven't taken the safety course, you should. My cousin teaches in sherman and lancaster.

This one has carbs, not fuel injected.
I think I like it better that way since you can re-jet the carbs...and get a little extra umph.
The bike has a lot of torque too, and it's supposed to respond nicely to a K&N air filter and exhaust change.
The only thing I don't care for is that it's really cold natured but i knew that going in. The re-jet is supposed to help that issue though.

Carbs huh? My bad. I guess I should keep up with bikes more. When I had my 1999 Kawasaki Ninja it has jetted carbs, full header and exhaust, and a K&N. Big increase in power.

I love Kawasaki's, just don't care for the newer styling on the LTDs (vulcans)
But I have always loved the dependability and power of them
