Thread: New toy... Wednesday night races?

Default New toy... Wednesday night races?

My parents were in town this last weekend and brought me an R/C Miata as a belated birthday present. I got it all built and painted, and it runs really well. I know driftdevil has one too... Perhaps a few of the other R/C addicts can get one too and we can start races at the Wed. night GTG. The kit can be had for $105, plus you need a radio ($45), a battery ($10), and a charger ($30). If anyone is interested, let me know as I also have a discount code I can send you.

Maybe I'll use my birthday money.....

Thing is, how will black look? Won't it hide a lot of detail? It'd be a b*tch to see in the dark. Also, where can I bet rims like mine for the R/C?

I think it would look great in black.

    Mine came with these:

And I know that these are also a direct fit:

When I have a chance, I am going to do a little research and figure out what else might work.

You have to add shipping to the first one too.... but... once you add in the discount code I have, the first one ends up being 81 cents cheaper.

The sad thing is, some of the CBs around here are not smart enough to figure any of this out, but may be psychologically wooed by the sub $100 price listed.

I've got one but it's gas powered and not tuned right. But if it was in tune, might not be a fair race.

If we ever got to a place where we had formal races, I think we would need to come up with formal mod rules. I think Tamiya M-chassis and one of the 2 Miata bodies would be a given. Beyond that, we could probably allow a handful of standard mods like bearings, tires, any Tamiya upgrade parts (Ball diff, oil filled shocks, lightweight parts, etc), pinion gears, and "stock" motor.
