Coil Wiring
I just had another junk-yard engine installed. My fuel pump wiring died, so I can't try to start the engine until I get that fixed. That said, the coil connectors look twisted. For those with 99/00 Miatas, which side (passenger/driver) coil connection has the brown/yellow wire, and which side has the brown wire?

Most wiring diagrams I have seen refer to coil 1 and coil 2, without specifying which side is 1 and which is 2. Do you know which side is which?

Wouldn't Coil #1 fire the #1 spark plug (and #4 at the same time ;-) )

I always thought it didn't matter, as long as the plug wires were in the correct order.

1/4 and 2/3 need to be on the same coils. Miatas use "wasted spark", which is why they eat up plugs and wires faster than many other cars.

^That's what I was saying...doesn't matter if it's 4/1-2/3 or 2/3-4/1, depending on coil-feed leads.

The problem is that the coils fire at different times. One coil fires when 1 and 4 are at TDC, the other when 2 and 3 are at TDC. The question would be whether Coil 1 (brown/yellow wire) fires with 1 and 4 at TDC and coil two (brown wire) with 2 and 3 at TDC, or is it the other way around?

Brown/Yellow to passenger side, which I have 1 & 4 in. Brown to driver's side, 2 & 3.
