Hey Miatamoto! My friend and I were out there on Sunday. He had the Civic coupe, he talked to you for a bit and you gave him some advice. I wish I ran that day, but my car needs some tlc, but I'm hoping to make it to the next event. Congrats on your win in bstock!

I was wondering why there were so many miatas out there, so I came back to the forums and see if there was a connection. My favorite of the day had to be the blue NA with bronze wheels, number 66 I believe...so hi to you if you are here .

Thanks, but no win here. One of the drivers of the yellow RX-8 took the win in B-stock with me in 2nd.

As long as your car is in sound mechanical condition bring it out and have some fun.

WOW! Something like 25 Miatea out there:
    • 3 in CS
    • 6 in ES (and ES beat CS!)
    • 3 in CSP
    • 3 in STS2
    • 1 in STS2LMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
    • 8 in Tire
    • 1 in Novice
    What an amazing Miata turnout!

Actually, CS 77 was a Caterham 7. There seems to have been some confusion between CS 77 and NCS 7. Look down at the DNS's in novice.

Oh, 2nd place is still something in my eyes. I will definitely try to be out there next time.

Second place = first looser Better than me though, seeing that I did not even go.
Hmm what is decent? Are we talking about your decent or my decent? I'm just curious because I don't want to offend anyone else's decent...

Still alive 'n kicking. No Miata, so no real reason to come out (someone once told me that watching autocross was like watching paint dry ). I do miss it, until I read about events like this one.

Just kidding. Matt and the SCCA crowd typically put on well run events, but you can't have perfection every time. In some respects, I like Pennington Field better because it's closer to me and the surface is in good shape. The Mineralring is great for it's long courses, but the drive out is a pain, and the surface -- with it's cracks, holes and tons of loose gravel -- just aren't kind to the car's paint.

I hope someday to be known for driving well as opposed to the a$s with 4 cones under a kart LOL :)

Thanks to HudsonHawk for helping with my tire change.

I had never seen three cones hung under a kart before, nice job miata_racer.

As someone said, it was the best autocross I attend yesterday.

Matt if you wanna come down to a Houston Regional and see how we run split days with lower-ish entry #s come on down on the 30th of this month. You can crash at my house if you need a place.

We can all give ya notes and advice on what we did that did and didn't work.

The split day is no longer for the guys who run the event, but shorter for the participants. :)

As far as corner working goes...you really only need 2-3 corner workers per corner....a flag/radio person, a cone shagger, and maybe a 2nd shagger.

So that's 15 corner peeps for a 5 corner event, plus 1 grid guy.....since 2 drivers should know what they are doing.....but only need to know.....go when i point. :) 1 starter, and 4 in timing. Total of 20 people per heat as workers. 25 makes it easier (satelite corners, timing sheet runner, 2nd grid worker, etc.)

But this comes out to making it possible to have 4 heats no longer than 1-1.5 hours each. You will need 2 sets of registration people....2 sets of tech folks, etc.

    If you're interested....call me :)

Not yet. Tim B and Phil A will be digging into that this week.

We've been kicking around a southern pilgrimage for a while now to check it out. Henry, Tim and Ann (and maybe a few others that I can't remember now) made the trip last fall. I wasn't able to go. Our big concern is having enough people.

The soonest I'll be able to head that way will be July, but I'll probably shoot you an email offlist for some more details.

    Thanks
    Matt
A Z06 is just like a Miata, but with the other half of the motor . . .
