Default Where to Get a New Top

    A co-worker with a 96 needs a new soft top.

He wants to know where to buy one locally and have it installed.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

Stevan Boyd at http://www.MiataSolutions.com installs them. Good prices on installation. I would expect that Stevan can give him a good place from which to order it.

    TCB approved.

But how do you like the top? Is it pretty nice? I've got to replace mine soon.

Tell your friend to do himself a big favor and install it himself. Some people seem to really be intimidated by the idea of installing their own top, but they shouldn't be. If I can do it, anyone can. It's time consuming, but not that hard.

Seriously, most shops are going to want somewhere between $200-300 for this job. If your friend has any type of mechanical skill (i.e. the ability to use a drill or turn a wrench) he can do it himself and spend that money on something else. If he can get you or someone else to help him out, you should be able to do it in an afternoon.

All you need is a few wrenches, screwdrivers, a drill, a rivet gun and a few rivets.

These are a couple pics of my top about a year after I installed it. My fiancee bought the top for me as a surprise and she got a tan one... After a year, I decided I wanted a black top, so I dyed the tan top rather than buying another.

Here's a couple of my most recent pics.

Very happy with it. They resell the Robins tops. Mine is a Robbins Premium sailcloth top with the glass rear window.

Interesting marketing but I doubt any sails are made from the material our rag tops are made of.

Pardon me, its actually called stayfast cloth. I keep jumping back to Jeep terminology where they are sailcloth on the premium tops.
