i just got every jackie chan movie and all the Mystery science theater 3000 episodes. that's about 500 hour of video time i have to find =X
I ended up hitting two (count 'em, TWO) movies last weekend. Oddly enough, they shared a common thread that you might never think of...
Friday Nite - The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard:
This one is pretty much over the top, starring an amalgam of actors from Anchorman, Step Brothers, and Hangover, along with PCU's Jeremy Piven, James Brolin (in a highly uncomfortably yet genius role), and some hot strippers. It may not be consistent or evenly paced, but dammit it's funny - it's got some damn funny running gags, along with a really slutted up saleslady (Derek's wife from Step Brothers, BTW). Will Ferrell makes a surprise uncredited appearance as well. If you liked Anchorman, Step Brothers, etc... you'll probably enjoy this brand of jackassery. I sure did.
Saturday Nite - District 9:
It's billed as a "documentary style" movie, but that's about half-true. It's got a couple of good concepts, and it's fun to watch, but I'm not sure it quite lived up to the big buzz. The aliens are well-done and nasty-looking, and the action is decent. But for some reason I was expecting something along the lines of 28 Days Later - and it's not nearly up to that level. It'll be a good DVD rental when it comes out.
The common thread? Both of these flicks make mention of some kind of Nigerian trade scam... gotta love it.

The Goods is on my list of movies to see.
I agree District 9 was interesting but a bit weird and a let down.

saw hurt locker 4 months ago and hung out with Jeremy Renner after word and saw his other movie that wont be in theaters anytime soon called light bulb. Cool dude, grate movies.
you have to sit really far from the screen for that to look good. i bot a 52" 1080p only because at 12-15 feet from the screen it takes up the best parts of the peripheral vision and is at the right spot for everything to play to look good. site closer you see jagged edges on 720p mode (most x360/ps3 games) and HD tv. site farther back and the screen is smaller. at that math i hope your sitting right at 25ft from the screen =D
Generally, 1.5x the screen width gets the job done for movies. You can also play with the pixle structure more on mine and blend them together (it's front projection). I sit about 10-12 feet from the screen for movies, which is right at 1.5x the screen width) and see NO pixelation (dvd and blu-ray). I play iRacing and Rock Band at about 8-9 feet (or closer) from the screen and can see some jaggies, but it's worth it to play on the big screen.
12-15 feet from a 52" seems a little far to me, but to each their own. I bet you've got better picture quality (my projecter is almost 3 years old now and it's showing its inferiority to new technology now).

Just saw Inglorious Basterds. Not QT's best, but very good (Pulp Fiction is still my favorite).

Ok i was thinking you bot one of the new 102" LCDs and was wounding why it only had 720p. i have anti aliasing on the local tv set up. i let the ps3/x360 do that. LCDs you see pixelation a little more. i would sit closer or get a bigger tv but also i can just zone out playing and my eye just lock in the forward upright position and i start dulling like a zombie as i kill people online.![]()
