No one can effectively recommend this for you.

Do some testing. Find the real answer.

If you want some help I can help you at the next time trial.

Yeah, I know I will have to do the tuning myself. It is just me trying to avoid buying a second set up springs. So trying to take advantage of anyone else's experience is the least I could do.

I think I am going to go with 500 front 450 rear. Then go from there to see if the rear needs to be firmer.

"buy" a second set of springs?

When I told Stance that I thought the springs weren't quite right for my car, they sent me some other springs to try out and give them feedback with.

I'd think for the coin you dropped on the Vorshlag stuff that they'd have better support!

(tongue is firmly planted in cheek... kinda)

I get the impression he isn't asking them instead he is asking his VW questions on a local Miata forum and get advice from guys who drive Lancers and CRX's.

AST has never done a setup for a VW Rabbit??

Sean... I think you are misunderstanding how businesses work. The OP bought a used set of ASTs from an individual, Matt, who happens to work here at Vorshlag. They were sold to him by Matt with a set of springs that was on his old street driven VW, but this guy wants stiffer spring rates, which he can buy from us or anyone else.

Why would you even suggest that Vorshlag "give" him a free set of springs??? That is ridiculous. He's not even a direct Vorshlag customer, but even if he was I'm not in the business of giving out "free springs". Springs are not like a book you can check out at the library - they are products, that cost money, and when they are used they then cannot be sold as new.

You better bring some good tires Sunday in at Texas Motor Speedway, btw.

yeah, I certainly do not expect free springs. Even if I was an actual Vorshlag customer (when I buy the springs I will be) I still would not expect free stuff unless there was something physically defective, and even in this case as I bought them used I may not even expect anything under that situation.

All I have expected and received was that Vorshlag would simply offer their expertise when I have questions for them concerning the suspension. So far over both email and in person they have been very helpful.

So far I have asked them what rates the shocks were valved to handle and I was advised 500 ft lbs is about as high as I would want to go. This weekend at TMS I was going to speak with them about the bias between F & R rates and if there was anything I should be concerned about.

Well AST has done their basic setup for the suspension, but not really a tracked car. I would get more help from the VW boards, but for the most part people there are simply concerned with low riding and car shows. Nothing to helpful for my situation.

I would have to agree. I personally am just to cheap right now. First post for me I think as well.

So how is it handling now? I was watching your recent vid from a event at TMS and the steering input required seems a bit funky, like you're really fighting it out there. Perhaps my perspective is jacked up since the front driver i'm use to driving has 3x less torque than your machine lol.

well the handling on the car overall is better, but I am in the process of getting it dialed in. On the first four runs the car was a little twitchy. For the second set of runs I stiffened up the front one click and lowered rear air pressure by 1 psi, it helped significantly.

    I didn't (re tires)

I didn't know these were second hand until this morning. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I think Vorshlag, I think a huge warehouse full of goodies, you know, like Santa's workshop. Of course, I've seen the videos and pictures, so I know it's not like that... but still
