Thread: NTAXS Winter Autocross #1, 1/17/2010, Pennington Field

Today was a great day, I really had a good time. Several people suggested I sign up here since most of the DFW AutoX group hangs out here. I don't have a miata, but have a 350Z roadster (the only one today). I really enjoyed watching all the cars run and of course driving my car at the event was more fun than watching. This is only my 5th event, 2nd with this group. I was on new Z1 star specs today and it made quite a large difference over the stock tires I had been running.

Too bad about the trash, I left none but people should be able to clean up after themselves. Now I am looking forward to seeing all of the times posted.

Great event today. JRJ, thanks for putting on a winter event for us!

The STX RX-8 was a lot of fun and very fast.

Sorry everyone, I caused the delay by crushing the timing light with my front tire:

jrj512, please let me know how much I have to pay the club to get a new timing light!

Beside my mishap, it was a great event with perfect weather. Thanks to everyone that helped make this event possible.

We'll see if we can fix it, first. The internals appear to be salvagable, but I still have to test them to be sure. It might just be a new case for it. If so, perhaps we can fab up something stronger.

Welcome aboard. We worked corner 4 together on the last runs (one of those that suggested this site). You put in some nice times driving the Z, and will just get faster. Enjoy!

4 year old Hoosier A3S05s that are heat cycled out don't work so well. I think he would have been better off driving on his street tires.

Actually they are nearly 5 years old. The Star Specs probably would have been faster, but I overdrove the Hoosiers anyway. I won't be bringing those dead tires to anymore autocross events.

Some of the commentary about the slushbox civic from the out of towners I was corner working with was pretty darn funny though.

It always is. Also I wonder which out of towners you reffering to. I only saw a fews names on the results that I didn't recognize.

I posted some videos of my PM runs. The street tires took some getting used to. I guess I need to go see my "Hoosier crack" dealer again soon.

Anyway, this was my fastest from the afternoon:

Well here are my videos from the event. First showcases Ken's scooter form

Then we have my fastest morning run a 38.277 which still was not that quick compared to what it should have been

Then my afternoon 2nd fastest run [37.8] because my fastest run was filmed outside the car.

My fastest afternoon run was this one with a 37.535, but it also works as an exhaust video

I think JJ may have you on form, but I think you have more straight line speed. Do I see a little race in the near future?

It's a race to the funnel cakes. Whoever gets there first can put powdered sugar on the other one's nose
