I have the metric set from harbor freight. They are nice and sharp and I have had no problems. The die handle is crap but it does work.

I just bought a set from vatozone for $10 or so.Looks like the harbor freight set but with less sizes.

I haven't successfully tapped anything yet without stripping it yet, but I think it was a combination of not knowing what I was doing and the material I was tapping - a plastic shift knob and a cheap ebay hub spacer, metal was almost soft enough to scratch with a fingernail.

Metal seems sharp and hard, does it work well, I have no idea...guess im not contributing very much am I?

General rule of thumb on tapping threads is 1/2 turn forward followed by 1/4 turn backward. Repeat several more times. This will clear out the chips from the tapping process. Also, make sure and use some 'tap magic' oil with the taps.

i guess it's a good thing the Rambo approach worked, turn tell it stops, back it out, insert screw =D


there was a $14 metric 40p set that was not on the site i found in the store. life time warranty so good enough for me
