Angry Tis the season for thieves...

Just wanna give everyone a friendly reminder this holiday season: Don't leave anything in your car. I went out to the car this afternoon to get my something and noticed both doors open slightly and everything from my glove box and console sitting in my passenger seat. GRRRRRR! The only thing in the car worth anything was the ~$3.00 in change in my console. They took the quarters, nickels, and dimes, but left me the pennies!

I leave my doors unlocked after having my top slashed a few years ago, so I avoided that headache this time! I also have my trunk release disabled so they weren't able to get anything in the trunk.

Don't get complacent guys. It can happen at any time.

This area is shady, my office is right at 121/Macarthur and we have break ins in our parking lot all the time. I had a headlight washer plastic cover stolen off my BMW in broad daylight and someone tried to steal a coworkers Yukon. We've also had a thieve take a hacksaw to another co-workers 4Runner and steal the cat converter. Ghetto!

It's because all those god damned apartment on that block are slaves to Section-8 HUD money and they go wild. Remember a few months ago when someone from the "Plantation" apartments was killed in the parking lot and dumped in a pond? I moved further down the street and it's pretty quiet though I know I'm not immune. I lived at 35 and Round Grove and although my apartment was decent, the "Tuscany at Lakepoint" across the street was more expensive, and full of problems. When the Saints won the Superbowl I heard automatic weapon fire, several donks were wrecked in front of the apartment, fights going down all the time, and there's a problem with prostitution. There were monthly break-ins at all apartments on that street on the 3rd or 4th where checks and computers were stolen, every month. There was also a shooting and a stabbing on separate occasions at the car wash there. Apparently those class acts like to walk to the fried chicken restaurant, then fight at the car wash or on the median. It was so bad that police would not respond, I can't say I blame them. I bet that area is a real gem now that DART has a train station there.

    This is pretty funny:

Remember that if you aren't on HUD subsidies, you're looking at $650/month for a one bedroom at that place. I don't mind dropping $1000/month for my place because I believe my stuff is safer down the street.

Locking the car does not protect your top from getting slashed. I had a nearly identical experience in Dallas at 75/Walnut hill, except the thief sliced the top of my unlocked car across the entire width. At least the cut was clean. Anyone remembering Franken-Miata will surely tell you I am an accomplished seamstress.

Oh yeah: he took the pennies, too. My change was in a ziplock baggie.

^Neither does moving down the street.

I had the same thing happen while living in $900+ /mo gated apts in nice carrolton/addison area. There were section 8 housing within walking distance and they would hop the gate and find all the goodies in our parking lot. We finally moved after a serial rapist attacked his 4th victim at gunpoint literally across the street.

**This was also a couple months after a meth lab explosion in said section 8 apts.

This is why I moved away from trash, to a complex with no other apartments around it.

I think you're talking about more of round grove/macarthur. I don't recall seeing any apartments at 121 service road and macarthur. I think the reason for all the petty thefts is that it's right off the highway so you can pull in the parking lot, smash and grab and hop back on 121 right there.

Try the north-east corner of RG and B121. They look decent, but full of trash.
