Weird that it has an early model instrument cluster face. I thought those only went to '93. Mine has one has one, but I went out of my way to put it in. Is it really original/pristine? Pretty easy to swap a low mileage cluster.

It was basically the same looking instrument cluster from '90-'97.

It has the L/H dummy oil pressure guage. Seems correct to me.

AFAIK, the chrome bezel around the Speedo and tach were limited to the 1.6.

Layout is the same. Dummy OPG and chrome rings separate them. I believe some of the lights moved into and out of the gauges.

You replaced the OPG. Did you have an earlier cluster installed? Mine looks the same but with custom gauge faces... However I swapped my cluster faceplate with onefrom a 1.6; the original did not have chrome rings. Mine is a '96

Nope that is the way it came from the factory the '94 also has a real OPG as an added bonus!

I wonder if the switch was really defined by OBD1/2 switch. From what you are showing, that seems logical. My cluster also has a real OPG, but again, I modified it to that condition; the OEM was a dummy gauge.

No. The 1994 had the real OPG. The 1995 did not but both were OBDI. Going away from the real OPG was to limit customers service issues in which your general public fears a moving needle. Lots of service complaints when ID10T customers were concerned about the high and low oil pressure readings. The fix was a dummy gauge and no more concerned customers. Ignorance is bliss as they say.

BTW, for those with a 1995-1997 Miata, I have a real OPG and sender for sale. Just swap out for a full functioning OPG.
    ...and across the line.
