Just curious if anyone has ever seen something like this. Currently white exterior with typical black soft top and all black interior. Eventually/soon will replace the top with a new soft top. I am tempted to go back with a tan top but wondered how it would look. Anyone done something similar? I figure with the top up, you arent going to easily see the black interior anyway. Even if you did, would it look bad? I also considered that down the road I may plan on going with some tan leather seats to replace the black cloth and possibly the door panels. Just mix the black and tan together possibly and break up the all black interior. Obviously things like this are a personal preference, but I was curious if anyone had seen something similar.

A tan top on a white car looks great - I've seen several! I'm still rocking a tan top with a black car and black interior, and I don't think it looks too bad. also, I keep telling myself that the tan top is cooler in the summer...
Previously, I had a black & tan interior - just the seats and door panels were tan, though. It did a nice job of breaking up the black.

Ah, a voice of experience. Is that your's? I think it looks good. For one thing, I want to cut down on the heat a bit with the black top that is currently there and also thinking maybe the tan wouldnt fade as quickly.
I'll trade you my tan carpet for your black carpet. Seriously my tan carpet's not in great shape, but when I can find some good black carpet I'm trying to go the other way. Black and tan, swapped the top and seats so far, carpet's next. I plan to keep the tan doorskins and dash parts.

Also keep in mind that all black ain't so bad if you have a few accents thrown in...

I think either would look good.. I'd grab the tan top, though.

I had one with a grey top. I never liked it against the white. Same for tan tops against white. I just don't like them.

I think I will get a black vinyl top with glass window next time. The tan canvas is a PITA to keep clean.

Yep. I see lots of Miatas come through the shop and tan tops/interiors show more dirt and look rattier than the black tops/interiors. I personally would never "choose" tan but like you said, "personal preference".
White goes with everything so there are other options you could choose as mentioned above. Dark blue, charcoal gray, burgandy are all valid options and may hide more dirt. Besides that, they would be different.
Hell, I saw a white top on a white NA over on CR last night. Looked pretty cool, but as has already been noted about lighter colors, it looked awfully dirty.
