I was looking through the listings. Seems like most of them are muscle cars, or cheap old Corvettes made up to look like older, more expensive Corvettes. Meh.

The only two that really caught my eye were the LFA and this one. I'd bring that one home and drive it.

How are some of those classics or muscle cars?

If only I had the moneys (I'd leave it in a field and rat-rod the hell out of it though. And get different wheels):

I really don't get most of the rat-rods.

Me neither. But I saw one of the identical truck I linked that the body was beat to hell, and I fell in love. I usually don't go for old cars/trucks like that (or pick-ups in general), or rat-rods, but I have wanted this truck in that form for nearly a decade now.

EDIT: I guess I should say the paint was beat to hell, not the body. Metal was good, the paint/primer was what was all "rat-rod"ed looking. Pretty sure there's a big difference, but again, I'm not usually into all that so it could have been a given.

I sometimes watch Mecum auctions on TV. A lot of the cars go for a fair price, and a lot less than you could build one for. If someone is looking for that type of car it’s worth the time to go.

I have that exact truck in the "patina" finish in my garage right now, along with a bed full of parts and a good 235 pressure oiling to complete the long stalled resto. It'd love to find a new home, since it's current owner went and got all miata-on-the-brain! 1947 Chevy Thriftmaster

Thanks, but no. That's my "when we both graduate and I can spend money on a completely useless vehicle" goal. That would literally be my Sunday afternoon vehicle, and I don't have the money (or space) for that right now. I wish though. Maybe in like 2-3 years I'll bring this post up from the dead and see if you still have it.

Heading out in the morning to it. Anyone know if you can take a camera? I've found a couple of public photos here and there, but absolutely NO mention on Mecum's site, nor elsewhere on the Net whether or not they allow photography.

    Regards.

Wish I'd have seen this earlier. I was there for work, driving demos. I have an album of photos on Facebook.

    Maybe this will work:

Me and my two brothers went. It was a fun time. Spent 7 hours there. You can definitely take photos. However, I decided not to take my DSLR. My bro took photos, but it was with an older pocket camera, so not the best. By the end, he was tired of shooting as he felt like he might have enjoyed just looking more.

We ate lunch with two different guys up from the Houston area. One was bidding on the blue W-30 until it got past 55k. Talked to another who bought a mid-year corvette and was going to drive it home. First thing he had to do?... a temp fix on the battery box as it wasn't properly secured and he was worried about it possibly rattling around and shorting on the something. Another fellow was a trim restorer whom worked on a car there and they were hoping for a good price (don't remember which car). Got up on stage, made it on TV, spent too much money.

We'll go again next year if they come back.

    Regards.
