    Default Likely speedometer cable bad/dead

Tonight I noticed my speedo jumping just a little while running to the library. This is the first time I've seen it do it. There has been no noise (clicking) at all to indicate any issue. Anyway, I come back out to a dead speedo, dead odometer and a check engine light. Geez, that was a fast failure! After checking the fluids to make sure I haven't lost all my oil, rad fluid or something I head home.

These three symptoms are all related to a dead speedo cable, yes? I've read a lot of speedo cable threads tonight, but strangely, no one has mentioned a dead odometer or check engine light associated with a bad cable.

I'm going to borrow my old man's ODBII scanner and pull the code this weekend to verify that the code has something to do with the speedo/odometer, but just thought I'd post because of these two issues that no one else mentions when they post about their cable issues.

    Regards.
