Thread: Soft Top Repair Shop?

  1. #1

    Default Soft Top Repair Shop?

My '96 still has the original vinyl top. The PO had a new rear window sewn in. The window still looks great, and the top is holding on okay - but the stitching holding the window in has ripped out. It did not tear either the top or the window, just the stitching.

Anyone know of a shop that could do a quick stitch up job? Preferably in Richardson/Plano?

    Thanks!

I got a needle, needle nose pliers, and some thread and did myself.

That's Plan B. It looked doable, just time consuming.

I've gotta cram a week's worth of work into 4 days, plus get tires and an alignment in time to leave for Hallett Friday morning. Nothing like waiting until the last minute, I always say.

If you do it yourself, I would recommend using stronger, nylon thread over the cotton stuff from the sewing dept. at wal-mart. If I could go back in time, that's what I'd have done. OTOH, my top is holding together well with cotton thread.

V.O.R.A. in Lewisville on Mill St. (behind the car wash that's next to Eagle Transmission) did the top on my 92 B&T years ago. They are very good and very fair in price.

Although - I would NOT use Eagle Transmission there. They are a bunch of
