Thread: Tread requirements for Auto-X

    Default Tread requirements for Auto-X

I just aquired a set of Falken Azenis that are, to put it bluntly, tread deficient, AKA almost bald. I am thinking of using them at the SCCA autocross this Sunday. There is no cord showing yet. They are just well worn and two of them have almost no tread left at all.

Does the SCCA have any rule on this? What about the other groups?

    No cord, no problem.

That said, if they are that worn, keep a close eye on them between runs to make sure you don't cord them without noticing.

+1 ... it's going to be hot Sunday, and bald Azenis will get greasy fast. I'd run all-seasons before I ran those.

"measurable tread depth" is the verbiage.

Mark looked pretty closely at one of my tires this past weekend at ER. It was measurable... barely :)

I have been running all-seasons since I bought the car.

The back tires have no tread.

Why would you buy bald Azenis? They're pretty darn cheap new... if you can find them, still.

Because I don't have the money to buy anything else. I'm running on unmatched street tires now.

Snowdoggie: those Azenis should have a few events left in them. Just put the better tread on the rear, since that's where most of your wear will occur.
